Key Concept
The time entry process allows employees to enter time efficiently and effectively with minimal effort. Time recording pages are easy to use and navigate. The workflow approval/reject process and reporting is clear and detailed. A successful implementation of the time entry application requires a strong integration team effort, tight integration among various SAP modules, and the time, resources, and commitment to work in unison to consistently and efficiently meet the objectives of the time entry process.

We began our implementation of SAP Time Entry for professional services at our company as part of one of our major releases. Due to a lack of intimate knowledge about Cross-Application Time Sheet (CATS), we never realized the importance of integration and customization among various modules, including SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM), Project System (PS), and SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) cProjects.

This article chronicles the missteps and problems we encountered and how we tackled these challenges with the next implementation. You can use our example to avoid mistakes and better understand integration of various modules associated with time entry implementation.
